PESTICIDE CONCERNS & COMPLAINTS

If you have been affected by misuse of farm pesticides, it is important to know the steps to take to register your complaint.

1.     If a person has been sprayed, remove contaminated clothing, seal it in a plastic bag for laboratory analysis, shower, and get to a hospital immediately. For Poison Information  call 204-787-2591

2.     Try to get the numbers from the wing of the plane. Contact the spray applicator and find out what chemical they were applying, and advise them that you are reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities.

3.     Contact the farmer who contracted the sprayer, and advise him that you are reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities. The farmer is ultimately responsible for the actions of the pilot, since he has hired him as a hired hand.

4.     Contact PROBLEM PESTICIDES MANITOBA at one of the numbers listed above to register the incident and to receive any assistance you may require.

5.     Contact one or more of the following agencies, depending on the circumstances:

·        Flying Hazard: (flying too low, disrupting animals, flying over residences, etc) call Transport Canada 204-983-7728
