My landlord, school, condo is planning to spray. What can I do to make them choose alternatives?

I understand from several people living in public housing or condos in Regina that talking to the other tenants and getting them to sign a petition indicating they do not want pesticide (or herbicide) or whatever spraying has been working for many. Then the petition can be presented to the administration or condo association. It might be harder in a condo association, as owners may be a lot more concerned about the appearance of the property.

You can take information about alternatives to other condo owners

and the administration.Good information can be found at
TALKING TO YOUR TOWN OFFICIALS: www.safelawns.org/vresource.cfm <http://www.safelawns.org/vresource.cfm>. Then bring the documents to the town office, administartion, etc. with a friendly note. Confrontations rarely work. " If you don’t get any feedback from the handouts, let me know. I’ll be happy to discuss some more poignant strategies." Paul Tukey (10/26/2009)

Paul Tukey wrote The Organic Lawn Care Manual and also has a very well explained DVD on organic lawn care.

Unfortunately, at present, I cannot recommend a particular company that offers organic lawn care in Regina as they mostly do not return my calls when I ask for that type of information. On Saturday at the Organic Gardening class I gave at Sherwood library, one young man said he had started a lawn care business last summer and really wants to go organic.

Enviromasters offers a 100% organic and pesticide-free program and they have a web site but, likely, if most of their business is still chemical, they would use the same tank trucks for both and that puts in question the organic part.
